"Queen of the Sea" is a multi-paneled and multi-leveled wall hanging. It is hung on an acrylic dowel, with the different layers held together with fishing wire (appropriate, eh?)
The Queen is pieced with a polymer clay face, yarn and beads in her hair and a shell necklace. Her torso is made from a cotton knitted sweater, and her bottom is satin scales (made one by one and pieced together). Her tail fin is Guatemalan woven fabric, the background is scrunched to produce a water/wave effect. Beads, shells, yarns and embellishments adorn the pieces. There is a dolphin, a barracuda, a squid and a "fancy" fish accompanying the Queen.
