This is "Walking Elephants", made for my daughter, who has recently decided she wants to move onto a new motif, since I have deluged her with elephants over the years. This is paper-pieced elephants around a raised relief free-motion center (velvet). The elephants are made from cottons and satins (I like the shiny effect) and twine tails. It measures 36" square.
you might notice that wavy "Fluer" has the opposite fabrics as the straight edged "Fluer" posted yesterday. It's a couple of inches larger all the way around b'c of the wavy border.
"Fluer" was created using a curvy rotary cutter design...the second layer will post tomorrow. It is 32" tall by 17" across with cotton and cotton metallic fabrics. No embellishments on this one.
Here Comes the Sun, 41" tall by 21" across. It has a rounded top, supported with a cardboard foundation. Pieced, quilted and embellished with beads and appliques, it uses basic blues (ocean, life) in the bottom section, reds (fire and energy) in the middle and yellows on top (sun). I used glass beads to fringe the bottom and some embellishing yarns throughout.
